Kim Russell, age 65, passed away at her home in Wabigoon, Ontario, in early March 2025.
Born and raised on a farm in Manitoba, Kim developed a strong work ethic and deep love for nature and animals that stayed with her throughout her life. She spent her early years helping with farm chores, raising animals, and caring for her younger siblings.
Kim was known for her warmth, creativity, and vibrant personality. She ran a daycare for many years, caring deeply for each child she welcomed into her home. She also made friends everywhere she went and formed lasting bonds with people across the country.
In her later years, she fulfilled a lifelong dream by building her own home in the woods of Wabigoon, where she was surrounded by nature, her beloved dogs, and the beauty she so often shared through pictures and stories.
She is survived by her daughter, Jaclyn Brooks; her siblings, Karen, Derrick, Cindy and Clinton Nykorak; and many friends who loved her dearly. She was predeceased by her brother Greg Nykorak and her parents, Gertrude and William Nykorak, with whom she will now be laid to rest nearby.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB., and is open to all who knew her.
