RICK ARTHUR FREDERICK WIENS

May 25, 1952 - March 26, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we say our final goodbye to Rick Wiens. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Deeply mourned by his beloved wife, Marianne; his children Mara (Tyler) Sattler, Alaric, and Xenia; stepsons Shaun (Melissa Gerardy) Duguay and James Duguay; grandchildren, Isla and Mason Duguay; siblings, Robin (Emilie Lagacé), Johanna, Linda, Barbara (Keith McKay), Kimberly (Bill Kerker), Kevin, Christopher (Lynn), Susan (Richard Ingimundson), and Sigrid (Tim Adelmann), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Nancy, and infant siblings, Richard and Cynthia.

Rick’s greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, especially taking them to restaurants and playing games. Watching Isla and Mason play hockey made him fall in love with the game all over again.

Rick had several careers throughout his life—surveyor, farmer, production manager, quality control manager, but his favourite was as a self-employed consultant and auditor. Rick enjoyed spending time with his clients and retired just last year. He made lasting friendships and was admired and respected for his integrity and dedication to excellence.

Those who knew Rick well will remember him for his love of travel, music, singing, reading, and red wine. He was happiest regaling family and friends with jokes, puns, and limericks. Rick loved to laugh and to see others laugh.

Cremation has taken place and no service is planned, as per Rick’s request. Well-wishers are encouraged to enjoy a glass of wine in his honour.

If there's another world, he lives in bliss;

If there is none, he made the best of this.

Our gratitude to the staff of Cancer Care and St. Boniface Hospital for their care and attention.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Going back 30 years I met Rick while working at Custom Castings. He trained us and helped implement our quality system. As I moved on to Matrix Metal Casting Rick helped us for many years with our quality and safety systems. I really enjoyed talking to him as he gave us perspective and insight. Rick was a friend, a mentor and was sincere in his efforts to help us improve. Rick was a foundry man from his days working at Amsco in Selkirk and told us many stories of his time there. I will miss him. - Posted by: Peter Hnatishin (Working relationship) on: May 26, 2025

  • We will always remember sharing a glass of Rosé in the backyard sun. Thanks my friend, for sharing some of your favorite limericks: A wonderful bird is the pelican, His bill holds more than his belican. He can take in his beak, Enough food for a week, But I'm damned if I see how the helican. An amoeba named Max and his brother, Were sharing a drink with each other; In the midst of their quaffing, They split themselves laughing, And each of them now is a mother. - Posted by: Robert (friend and neighbour) on: Apr 02, 2025

  • On behalf of the entire team at Manrex Ltd. please accept sincere condolences on your loss. Our thoughts are with Tim's family at this time. We worked with Tim for many years as he was our ISO auditor. During that time we formed a friendship with him and always enjoyed hearing about his family and what he was up to when he visited. He will certainly be missed by our team. Once again our deepest sympathies. Fiona Webster Mourant - Posted by: Fiona Webster Mourant (Business Associate) on: Apr 01, 2025
