JESSE MANN
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our family member Jesse Mann. Jesse was the last remaining member of her family, predeceased by her brother Leslie Mann, her father Bert Mann and her mother Simon (Frankard) Mann.
Born October 4, 1947, Jesse was born in Brandon and attended Catholic schools until as a young adult she went to work in rural Alberta as a domestic. It was there that she fell in love with the simple life of caring for her garden and for all God’s creatures big and small. Upon the death of her charge, Jesse returned to Manitoba where she lived in Winnipeg for a few years before returning to Brandon.
Once back in Brandon, she reunited with family and became a part of the civic and church community. With the help of Joe and Bertha Cancade, she resided on the 700 block of 7th Street where she would often be found caring for stray animals she befriended in the area. She resided at that location with long-time friend Mr. Steve Kolody, until a time when a tragic truck/pedestrian collision rendered Jesse unable to care for herself and others. She and Steve were placed in Fairview Personal Care Home in 2009. It was there that Jesse gained the favour of all she encountered by her kind and co-operative nature.
Jesse continued to love the visits with friends and animals until the end and will be sorely missed.
God bless you Jesse and may your everlasting home bring your much desired peace.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, 327 4th Street, Brandon, on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.
