With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Lorraine on March 30, 2025, at the age of 84.
Lorraine, twin sister Lucille (deceased), and brothers, Bill and Jim were born and raised on a farm in Treherne by parents, Fred and Eva (both deceased).
Lorraine later moved to Winnipeg where she met and then married her husband, of over 62 years, Mike. She worked outside the home up until their first child, Michael, was born in 1966. Kristine followed in 1969, and Lorraine was a dedicated homemaker who enjoyed coffee dates and outings with girlfriends, gardening, reading, watching movies, playing cards and doing crosswords. She greatly enjoyed the years with their camper and later at the Wendigo cabin. Fishing, picking berries, having drinks while playing cards or singing and playing guitar around the campfire with friends gave her so much joy. Their years on the Cook’s Creek farm provided her with the opportunity to create her own paradise and she spent hours tending to her various trees, plants, flowers and garden. In the last several years she became quite passionate about monarch butterflies and prided herself in contributing to their survival.
Lorraine had COPD which she managed well for many years, but the last few months were most difficult and she struggled more often with different aspects of her condition. She was comforted in her last days that she had recently seen many out-of-town family members, grandson Ryan’s wedding to Zoé in November, and met and held her first great-grandniece, Marcella born in February.
As per Lorraine’s wishes, no funeral will be arranged. Cremation will take place and a private gathering will be held at the family home at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to the Manitoba Lung Association in her memory.

Although we have not seen each other for many years, we will never forget the great times we had at Wendigo. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the family. - Posted by: Linda & Gordon McEachern (Friends) on: Sep 02, 2025
