INGRID HOCHEL-STECIUK

We are sad to announce the passing of Ingrid on April 21, 2025.

Ingrid was one of four siblings of mother Maria (Farkas) Hochel and father Frank Hochel. She was born January 7, 1964, in Czechoslovakia in a small town of Dolne Trhoviste in Slovakia.

She leaves to mourn her husband of 22 years, Ron Steciuk; two children, Jessica Rose Hochel and Neil Robert Burnell; sisters, Renata Hochel and Eva Lendrum (John); Frankie Hochel (Lisa); nephew little Frank Hochel; and her grandson George Irvine Burnell.

Ingrid came to Canada with her family on January 27, 1970 landing in Montreal. At a young age, Ingrid learned that hard work does pay off and education was important. She struggled to build a family as a single mother of two children at a young age. Ingrid worked hard to provide for them. She loved showing her family the world by taking them on a trip to Europe. She loved her Slovakia roots, learning the language and culture.

Ingrid worked at various jobs. Working as a cook in a French Restaurant and as a Heath Care Aide at Health Science Centre for 26 years. Ingrid worked long hours, and enjoyed helping other people by making them feel better. It gave her purpose. She also enjoyed knitting scarves for her grandson. Ingrid treasured every moment with her grandson George, going ice fishing or swimming with him. Her dreams were to travel around the world and learn about different cultures and to see different attractions.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
