HENRY DUECK

April 28, 1934 - May 15, 2025


Henry Dueck, aged 91, passed away at St Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, MB., on May 15, 2025, after several years struggling with chronic illness.

Mourning his passing are his wife Marie, children Robert (Linda) and Julia (Todd), grandchildren Amanda, Megan and Matthew (Brenna). He is also survived by one sister, three brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Aganetha Dueck, four brothers, six sisters, six brothers-in-law and seven sisters-in-law.

Henry grew up on a farm in the Rose Farm district in southern Manitoba. He studied at CMBC, the University of Manitoba and AMBS in Elkhart, Indiana and then worked as a Bible School teacher, with MCC Manitoba, and in various capacities in the EMM Conference as a pastor and administrator, along with many volunteer positions on boards and committees. After retiring in 1997 he enjoyed volunteering, travel, gardening and spending time with family and friends, especially his three grandchildren. Bethel Place and Bethel Mennonite Church provided a valued community for his final years. He enjoyed life to the end and always had a positive attitude, even through chronic health struggles.

Many thanks for all the support and assistance from family and friends, and to Dr Robillard, the medical staff at Victoria Urgent Care, and at St. Boniface Hospital emergency and 6A South for their care during his final days.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with viewing at 10:00 a.m., at Bethel Mennonite Church, 465 Stafford St, Winnipeg, MB. Reception to follow with burial at Sage Creek Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Mennonite Central Committee.
