Date of Passing: May 25, 2025
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOAN CAROLINE PORTEOUS
Peacefully on May 25th, Joan passed away at Health Science Centre at the age of 78.
Joan was predeceased by her parents Frank and Ellen Porteous, sister-in-law Betty Porteous and survived by her brother Ken (Judith), niece Jamie La (Patrick), great-niece and nephew Miko and Donnie, step-nephew Derek Lutz and great-niece Morgan.
Joan spent the majority of her 36 year career at Public Press in Winnipeg making many friends along the way. After retirement Joan was an avid volunteer for Canadian Cancer Society along with Meals on Wheels and was always willing to lend a hand. Joan was one of the nicest human beings you could have ever met, she didn’t have a mean bone in her body. She took enormous pride in her family who she doted on any chance she could. Family meant everything to Joan and it showed. As a family, we are heartbroken by our loss but grateful for all of the joyful memories Joan has left us with. She truly was one of a kind. Joan will be forever missed and family gatherings won’t be the same without her. We love you Joan/aunty Joan.
At Joan’s request there will be no public funeral, instead a private family interment.
In lieu of flowers we request that donations be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society in her honour as Joan always had a soft spot for cats or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in her honour.
