Peacefully, with family by his side, Walter George McLarty passed away at the age of 84 on June 4th, at Seven Oaks General Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Walter was predeceased by his wife Louise (Sheppard), parents George and Evelyn (nee McPherson) McLarty, parents in-law Milo and Kay (nee Chester) Sheppard, and brother-in-law Moir Thompson (Carol).
He leaves to mourn son Ian (Cindy) and grandchildren Jessica, Connor, Emily (Charles) and Bethany; and daughter Tara (Jeffrey) Brown and grandchildren Helen and Grace. Walter is also survived by his sister Carol, brothers-in-law Richard (Kim) and Wesley, and by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral service and reception will be held on Tuesday, June 10 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Concordia Hospital and Seven Oaks General Hospital who took such exceptional care of Walter and showed him so much kindness. The staff always commented on how sweet he was, how he always joked with them, and how they loved hearing the stories he had to tell.
If friends so desire, donations may be made in Walter’s memory to a charity of choice.
