HENRY PATKAU

September 10, 1939 – June 18, 2025


Henry Patkau passed away suddenly on Wednesday June 18, 2025, at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 85.

Henry is survived by his wife of 31 years, Viola; children Donna (Russ), Dennis (Maureen), Dale (Debbie), Delores and Debra. His grandchildren Justin (Jennifer) Dennis Jr. (Jade), Kristen (Zach), Courtney (Kevin) and Lindsay; nine great-grandchildren; sisters Margaret and Mary and numerous nieces and nephews.

Henry was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Elouise; brothers Jacob, Nick, John and William; grand-daughter Kerri-Ann; grand-son Julian and nephews Gerald and John.

Henry grew up on a farm in McCreary, Manitoba. He started working at Greyhound Bus Co. in 1967 as a driver and a driver instructor until his retirement in 2001.

He and his wife travelled extensively through the U.S. with a truck and a 5th-wheel. They also travelled to many Carribean Islands as well as travelling to France where he visited his brother’s grave. His favorite places to visit were Key West and Hawaii which he got to visit again in January of this year.

Henry loved working in his garage fixing and restoring old cars, trucks and a tractor. Listening to Country and Gospel music. He also loved watching hockey and football.

For several years he was a volunteer at Austin’s Thresherman’s Reunion and he was getting ready to attend this July. He also enjoyed dining out for breakfast with friends and family.

Henry was a wonderful, kind, loving man, who will be sadly missed but will be in our hearts forever.

The family thanks the First Responders, staff at St. Boniface Hospital and Garry & Marian Perrett.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday June 30, at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Pallbearers will be Russ, Dennis, Dennis Jr., Dale, Justin and Jeff Reed. Honorary Pallbearer, Maurice.

Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation in Henry’s memory.

It is with profound sadness that Henry’s family announces his passing on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at the age of 85 years.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 30 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street.

Henry was always so easy to talk to and lived for, and loved his family so much. He also loved his country music, and country and western singers, especially Merle Haggard.
