LARISSA TIMOFEVNA TOLCHINSKY

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Larissa Timofevna Tolchinsky, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, wife and friend, on June 27, 2025, at the age of 74 after a battle with ALS.

Born on December 6, 1951, Larissa was a strong, kind, independent and enterprising woman. She was the daughter of Timofey Asaev and Anna Asaeva and grew up in a loving family that instilled in her the values of family-first and persevering through difficulty, values she carried with her to her final moments.

Larissa was whip-smart and with a degree in Eastern Literature, she led her family from Kyiv to Canada in 1990 and went on to start several businesses. Such was her drive to provide, no matter the obstacles. She was known for her genuine compliments, wry humour and unwavering devotion to her only son, Oleg and later his own children. Wherever Larissa went she was the life of the conversation and someone who everyone wanted to be around.

Larissa is survived by her son Oleg (Laurel) Tolchinsky and beloved grandchildren, Maxim and Sonya as well as her brother Viacheslav Asaev. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 40 years, Zinovy Tolchinsky.

Mama, we miss you every single day but knowing you, you are somehow still helping and guiding us, wherever you are. We will persevere, just like you taught us.

A small service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on July 11, 2025, at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main St., Winnipeg.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ALS Society of Manitoba.
