After a courageous two year battle with cancer, it’s with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother on June 30, 2025, at the age of 69.
Janet met her future husband to be (Charley) while they were in high school. They started dating when she was 17 and he was 19. They married on October 22, 1977. They raised two wonderful children Stefan (Richel) and Sarah (Cliff) who provided Janet with three beautiful grandchildren, Lily, Eylah and Jake.
Janet also leaves behind her sister Robbie and brother Jimmy (Kathy) along with bother-in-laws and sister-in-laws with many nieces and nephews.
Janet worked almost all of her working life with the City of Winnipeg with the majority of time in the Employee Assistance Program and retired 14 years ago.
She had many interests in life from gardening, cooking/ entertaining, sewing, quilt making, travelling, music and reading. But her favourite pastime was being with her family, friends and especially her grandchildren.
Janet and Charley were together for nearly 53 years of happiness, numerous life adventures, made many friends and relished the many family gatherings.
She lived all her years as a loving, caring and giving person. She was always there for others in-need of help and an ear for listening. She was one of a kind, and we will remember and miss her dearly.
Janet’s dear friend Cindy also battled cancer at the same time and both left us during the same week, two kindred spirits together again.
As typical Janet…not seeking any attention, requested a private family gathering to celebrate her life.

My first memories of Janet go back to 1976 (when she was still Janet Sinclair), and she worked in The City of Winnipeg's Personnel Department in the Industrial Relations Branch along with Bill Miller, Tom Butterworth, Lawrence Salter and George Kent. After her work in Industrial Relations, Janet was such a valuable asset in the Employee Assistance Program, as she was not only extremely capable, but also kind and caring, and could be counted on to deal with everything with absolute confidentiality. Charley and Janet always seemed to me to be an excellent team...and I am sure that Charley will miss his dear wife so very much. I extend my sincere condolences to Charley and his family. - Posted by: Ken Hayes (Friend and Co-worker) on: Jul 12, 2025
