DESJARLAIS GIRARD
It is with a heavy heart and extreme sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Marc Girard, who left us far too soon at the age of 29.
Marc was a kind, thoughtful, and generous soul whose quiet strength touched the lives of all who knew him. He will be remembered for his sharp wit, his gentle nature, and the unwavering loyalty he showed to his family and friends.
Marc-Rene was deeply loved by his beloved grandmother Lina, Uncle Guy (Butch), cousins, Ryan, Ian, and Vance Desjarlais. He is profoundly missed by his stepmother Marlene Myketa-Girard, stepbrothers, Aaron (Jacqueline) and Mike (Kaely) Safioles.
He is remembered with special love by Dennis Parkin, the devoted husband of Marc’s late mother. Dennis played a huge father-like role in his life with patience, guidance and compassion. He is remembered with special love by his stepdad with whom he lived from 2000 to the time of the terrible loss of his mother Yvonne in 2011, which had a significant impact on his young life.
At the age of 15, he went to live with his paternal Memere Rose, in Elie and graduated from St. Paul’s Collegiate in 2014. As well, time spent growing up in Elie forged many strong friendships that last to this day.
After graduation, Marc went on to work in the auto industry and eventually enrolled in heavy duty mechanics at Red River Community College. His love and passion for tinkering with anything automotive led him to working towards acquiring his mechanic certification. Many thanks to his uncle Guy (Butch) for taking him under his wing to help him achieve this.
In 2018, Marc-Rene joined his father Alain, stepmother Marlene; Aaron and Mike in Lockport. The unexpected and devastating loss of his father in 2021 led him back into Winnipeg. His close ties to his Girard uncles and their spouses, Guy, Roger, Luc, Ray, Mario, and Aunt Ginette as well as his many cousins formed unforgettable memories and had a huge influence on the man he became.
Marc will be laid to rest in the St. Laurent Cemetery beside his beloved mother, a final resting place that will bring him home.
Funeral services will be held for Marc on Friday, August 1, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. at the Roman Catholic Church in St. Laurent, Hwy #6.
