KATHLEEN (KAY) ANNE HUTTON

November 27, 1933 - July 23, 2025

On July 23, 2025, at Action Marguerite St Boniface with her family by her side, Kay Hutton passed peacefully in her sleep at 91 years of age.

Kay is survived by her children, Richard (Wendy), Allison (John) and Elaine; her grandchildren Emily (Michael), Nolen and Maddison; her sister Mona McDougall and her nieces and nephews and their families.

Kay was predeceased by her husband of 68 years Bill, her grandson Hayden, her parents Anne and T.C.C. Bradbrook, her brother Gordie, her in-laws Velva and William Hutton, Robert and Sheila Hutton, Sheila Bradley, David and Lynn Hutton, and her brother-in-law Keith McDougall.

Kay was hired out of high school to work at Winnipeg Electric and then the Manitoba Power Commission. She attended Earl Grey and Kelvin schools in Winnipeg and grew up in the Fort Rouge area. She met Bill in her early 20's and married in 1956. They raised their family on Renfrew street, feeding them from their extensive garden and were known to host some great neighbourhood parties. She volunteered extensively at John Dafoe and J.B. Mitchell schools. She was very active in five pin bowling, curling leagues, in retirement -golfing, and later in life attending Curves well into her 80's. She was also creative, doing crafts like crocheting, knitting and ceramics. Where she really shone was in her organizational skills - for many years she was the Competition Secretary for Manitoba Highland Dance Association, the secretary for Sons of Scotland Benevolent Association, and helped organize and run the first few years of the Sons of Scotland Summer School of Highland Dance.

Bill and Kay loved to travel and socialize and made many friends throughout their lives and travels together. Although Kay spent her last years living with dementia, she could still tell a great story highlighted with her shining eyes and great facial expressions. Despite her decline, she would tell you how she and her friends had gone roller skating that day or a trip she was planning for the future - she still found ways to live a full exciting life even if it was in her imagination. She was a truly loving and caring mother and grandmother who will be missed.

To the people of Action Marguerite St Boniface 4AB - all staff were so kind and caring to Kay - laughing and talking with her and enriching her daily routine - thank you for being the wonderful people you are, who care for our loved ones day in and out. Knowing that she was safe and loved in your care was an incalculable gift.

Before she went to live at Action Marguerite St Boniface, Kay was a resident of Golden Door Geriatric Centre where she also was cared for by fantastic people who provided a safe and loving place to reside. Thank you to everyone who helped care for Kay through her Dementia journey - you are appreciated.

In keeping with Kay's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will not be a funeral service. A private family celebration has taken place.
