It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Betty on September 3, 2025, at the age of 94.
Betty was predeceased by her husband, Edward, in 2021. Her sister Elaine Emerson and brother Robert (Bob) Kirkwood. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Alison Glenwright (Steve) and Marlene Benoit; her cherished grandchildren, Garrett (Lauren) and Brooke; and the newest joy in her life, great-grandson Eddie.
Born in Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan, Betty moved to Winnipeg where she began her long career at the Hudson’s Bay Company in 1956. Working in the jewelry and cosmetics department downtown, she was known for her impeccable sense of style - something that remained with her throughout her life. Whether it was her signature earrings or her manicured nails and toes, Betty’s flair and elegance never went unnoticed.
Betty had a lifelong love of travel, and her adventurous spirit stayed with her in her later years, she especially treasured her final trip to Vegas last year to visit Marlene.
Betty and Edward spent 55 wonderful years in Windsor Park before moving to Dakota House in 2021. A passionate Winnipeg sports fan, Betty had a special place in her heart for the Winnipeg Jets - she never missed a game.
She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her. No funeral service will be held.
