JOANNE WOZNEY
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of JoAnne Wozney, a wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother at the age of 82 on September 17, 2025, with the family by her side.
JoAnne is survived by her son Glen (Carol) and daughter Barb, as well as grandchildren Randy (Krissy), Shaun and great-grandchildren Carson and Bennett. She is also survived by her sisters Helen Kendall and Judy Wuerch and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Harry, mother and father Sadie and Joe Cekanauskas and sisters Mary Suchecky and Katherine Polischuk.
JoAnne was born and raised in Starbuck, MB after graduating high school, she moved to Winnipeg with some girlfriends where she went to Secretary School and started working at Wright Carpets. In 1965, she married Harry, where they settled for many years in Windsor Park with their family.
After being a stay at home Mom and suffering a heart attack, her doctor advised her to change her lifestyle so she went out and got a job at Canada Safeway, where she stayed for 19 years before retiring.
Throughout the years, JoAnne enjoyed many vacations and fishing trips with friends and family. She loved curling, watching or playing in many memorable curling bonspiels with her sisters. They purchased a summer place at Heather Game and Fish in Lac Du Bonnet, where they spent 30 years meeting new friends, playing music and enjoying “Happy Hour” with a rye and coke in one hand and a Sportsman cigarette in the other. She spent summers at the lake with her loved cat “Diddy”.
JoAnne suffered a stroke in 2020 and spent over a year in and out of the hospital. After Harry’s passing in 2022, Joanne moved to River Park Gardens Personal Care Home where she definitely kept the staff on their toes.
JoAnne will forever be remembered for her crazy laugh, enjoying some good gossip, “Wacky Wednesday” with the family and bailing her grandchildren out of the trouble she let them get into at the lake!
Cheers Mom!
Funeral Service will be held at St. Bernadette Parish, 820 Cottonwood Road, on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Glen Lawn Cemetery.

Aunty Joanne kept all of us on our toes. She was always pulling a prank on someone. At our wedding, she stuffed my wedding dress with confetti. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. xoxo - Posted by: Trent, Catherine and Alex Wuerch (Family) on: Sep 20, 2025
