Dirk H. Aberson passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025 in West Kelowna, BC with his wife Jessie by his side.
Dirk was born in Dauphin on February 12, 1930 and grew up on the family farm. He worked at The Brandon Sun as a photographer for 32 years and enjoyed every minute of his time there. Dirk was the ultimate people person he had an adventurous spirit, weather flying his 1948 Piper Cub, travelling and experiencing new places, or just talking to people, friends and strangers alike.
Dirk was pre-deceased by his mother and father, Jane and Bob Aberson, his first wife Beverly, brothers Bob and Wim and nephew Bobby.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Jessie, nieces Janis Anderson, Carol Sinclair, Patty Simpson, Dawn Aberson, and nephew Rick Aberson and their families.
A Celebration of Dirk’s life will be held next summer in Brandon at a date to be announced.
