MARCEL SIMON FRASER

1938- 2025

With profound sadness, the family wishes to announce that Marcel Simon Fraser passed away at St. Boniface Hospital on September 20, 2025, five days short of his 87th birthday after a very brief and unexpected illness.

Marcel was born on the home farm at Swan Lake Manitoba on September 25, 1938. He attended the local St. Urbain elementary school, Gravelbourg College and Otterburne College where he received his grade XII certificate in 1958. He graduated from the University of Manitoba Faculty of Agriculture in 1965 and married his loving wife Joan Van Cauwenberghe on May 21, 1966. They were happily married 41 years until Joan’s sudden passing in 2007.

He leaves to mourn his three daughters: Kerilee (Trevor Fischer), grandchildren Niklas and Sara; Michelle (Jay Allard), grandchildren, Troy (Kara) and Trina; Sharon (Dennis White), grandson Ian and his precious first great-granddaughter Presley Allard. He also leaves to mourn one brother Tony (Ivy Clair) and three sisters, Therese Barsalou, Cecile Myslicki, and Jeannette Fraser, sister-in-law Delores Van Cauwenberghe and too many nephews, nieces, relatives and friends to name or count!

He was predeceased by his infant baby Joanne, wife Joan, parents, John and Antoinette Fraser, in-laws, Nestor and Annie Van Cauwenberghe, siblings and spouses, Ernest (Yvonne), Denis, Albert (Joanne), Richard (Gladys), Evangeline, Yvette (Maurice Leperre), Leon Barselou, Ernie Semmler, and Edward Myslicki.

The family would like to thank all the health care providers involved in dad’s care and to our great friends / family who have been here for us when we needed you the most.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be celebrated at St. Timothy Parish Church, 135 John Forsyth Rd., Winnipeg, MB on Thursday, October 30 at 11:00 a.m.

Marcel was very generous and supported many organizations. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
