NANCY LOUISE EDMONDSON

(née PARROTT)

May 11, 1944 – September 18, 2025

It is with profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of Nancy at the St. Boniface Hospital.

Nancy leaves us to join her departed loved ones: her parents, George and Miriam Parrott; and brother Bob Parrott.

She leaves to mourn and honour her memory, daughter Brooke (Paul); sons, David (Becky) and Rob (Joyce); and grandchildren, Kate (Jordan), Alex (Cassi), Ava, Max and Allison; as well as sister-in-law Jeannette; her nieces; and many dear friends.

Nancy had a true love for life which she lived with gratitude and appreciation. She absolutely revered her parents and felt lucky to have had such kind, generous people as role models. These values shaped Nancy’s attitudes and contributed to the positive energy we were all so fortunate to have experienced.

Born and raised in Saskatoon, Nancy had special memories of time spent at the family cottage at Waskesiu. She moved to Winnipeg after high school to pursue a nursing degree at the Winnipeg General Hospital. That decision would lead to a long career in different levels of healthcare in Winnipeg mostly at the Health Sciences Centre where she worked in many departments over the years. Her education at Winnipeg General also offered her the opportunity to meet classmates who became lifelong cherished friends, going to many reunions over the years and still getting together for regular lunches at each other’s houses to date.

Nancy had a lot of friends and it was easy to see why. Her interests were vast including interior design/décor, cooking, entertaining, travelling, bridge, learning French, gardening, golfing and art/painting. Her extensive community of friends were so inclusive and supportive of Nancy which she so appreciated. She adored every movie, lunch date, walk in the park, weekend at the cottage, art show, concert, glass of wine in the back yard, golf date, party, cross country ski with a bonfire and on and on…

Nancy loved travelling and new adventures. Hong Kong and Nanaimo were special places with family that led to trips to Australia, the Philippines, Thailand, Bali, Tofino, Victoria and more. Other treasured destinations were Hawaii, Croatia, Switzerland, France, Italy, Egypt and the Danube river cruise. It would ultimately be the island of Madeira Portugal with its people, culture and landscape that captured her heart. She was lucky to spend several winters there with new friends from Canada, Portugal and the UK all part of their community that brought her so much happiness. Tuesdays volunteering pulling weeds at the English church was a revered activity as she always felt close to her parents there.

A beautiful soul who was well loved and will be well missed.

A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 27, at St. Charles Country Club.
