We are sad to announce the passing of Diane at age 79. She went peacefully in her sleep, at her residence of Deer Lodge Center, after living with dementia since 2021.
Diane is survived by son Dale (Fatima), granddaughter Shanelle, sister Gladys, brother Todd (June), and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Ross (2015).
Diane worked hard her whole life from an early age, working well into her seventies. She spent many years in the restaurant and hospitality industry, working her way up to manager at the downtown Eaton’s Valley Room. She then worked in the cleaning industry for Miracle Janitor Services, eventually becoming the owner in 1999. She continued to run the business until selling it in 2017. Diane overcame adversities early on in life and did very well for herself; she was truly a self-made woman.
Despite these career and business accomplishments, her greatest role was grandmother, caregiver,
and fierce advocate for Shanelle. She cared for her for 33 years, until her dementia progressed to where she was no longer able to. Thank you to Manny for taking on the care of Shanelle. Diane’s mind would rest easy knowing Shanelle was being taken care of by Papa. Those of us who knew Diane well would say she had a generous heart and unapologetically spoke her mind.
There are many people who supported Diane in her journey with dementia, allowing her to remain living in her home with Shanelle for as long as she did and for that we are grateful.
Our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Tower 3 North of Deer Lodge Center who took such loving care of Diane and treat their patients like family.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, October 3, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Winnipeg, MB.
