DOUGLAS DODDS
Doug, 94 years, beloved husband of the late Shirley Dodds, father of Tannis and Cam. Doug passed away at the Souris Health Centre on October 8, 2025.
A graveside funeral service for family and friends will be held at the Elgin Cemetery on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow at the Elgin Hall.
In memory of Doug, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

I asked Daryl Ritchie of MNP in the early 1990's if he could recommended a farming mentor to me. He suggested getting in touch with Doug. I can recall several wise insights. 1. He said in the 40 years he farmed, he only had 7 good years, which by he meant he achieved high yields and high prices. In other words be a bit patience and steadfast: be able to weather the not so great years and it will work out. 2. When he first drove into my farm yard, he said you can't farm with all this machinery stuff, most of which was my AgQuest research equipment, When I told him about AgQuest and its value, he asked why do I bother farming. Overall he was right and even today I still tend to have too much equipment. We have 5 Steiger tractors-- almost self propelled equipment.
