It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Anita Derkson (Staniscia nee Malo), who peacefully passed away on October 9, 2025, at the age of 64.
Born August 13, 1961, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, she devoted her life to children as a daycare worker, foster parent, and Early Childhood educator. Anita loved spending time with friends and family, being outdoors, and taking walks with her puppy, Mojo. One of her happy places was anytime she could do crafts with any of her grandkids/nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her mother, Mary; her brother, Mario; her sisters, Heather, Dee, and Emerald; her children, AJ and Kat; her nephew, Dustin; her grandchildren, Emily, Bronson, and Duncan; as well as many cousins, grandnieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Jackie.
A Celebration of her Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at the Tyndall Park Community Centre Main Hall (2221 King Edward St.).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
