It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of June Wall (née Vanderburgh) - beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. June passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre on October 15, 2025, at the age of 82.
Born on August 21, 1943, in Pilot Mound, Manitoba, to Chelsea and Jean Vanderburgh, June grew up on the family farm before moving to Winnipeg to attend teacher’s college. She began her teaching career in Rosenfeld, where she taught 42 children in grades 3, 4, and 5, and later at Middlechurch School.
Around that time, she met the love of her life - the tall and handsome Bob Wall, who affectionately called her Pinky. They married in 1964, and when she joined the large Wall family, she was warmly embraced by Bob’s six brothers and six sisters. Together, they created a welcoming home on Kirby Drive, filled with family dinners, laughter, and dance parties. Kirby Drive was also home away from home for some of their siblings. Their annual Grey Cup party, started in the 1970s, remains a cherished family tradition. They also built a cottage at Victoria Beach, where countless summer memories were made.
After Bob’s passing in 1993, June faced life with courage and quiet strength, continuing to nurture her family and community.
Music was always central to her life - from childhood festival trophies to playing piano by ear at gatherings. She sang in church choirs and with the Singsationals Senior Choir, sharing joy through her music.
A devoted member of Sturgeon Creek United Church, June taught Sunday School, served on committees, and lived her faith through action. She also volunteered with the St. James Senior Centre, leading the Company of Friends group, and enjoyed travel adventures to Barbados, Hawaii, Europe, and Alaska.
Her greatest joy was her family. She provided encouragement, support, and unconditional love for all of us. She is held close in memory by her children Donna (Brad), Gary, and Jeff; grandchildren Stephen, Amy, Becky, Lizzie, Zachary, Erik, Laura, and Ryan; and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Bob, parents Chelsea and Jean, and sister Anne.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Prairie Spirit United Church, 207 Thompson Dr., on October 30, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
