MIEKO SUSAN THOMPSON
The family of Susan Thompson (nee Yamashita) is deeply saddened to announce her sudden passing in Ottawa at the beginning of August, 2025. Cremation has already taken place and a private family gathering was held at a later date.
She was predeceased by her long-time partner, Curt Appel, in 2023. "Susie", as she was known to family and friends, was the third child in a family of nine children. She completed most of her education in Winnipeg and taught for a year before going to Ottawa to study at Carleton University. After becoming a CPA, she worked for large accounting firms and small non-profit organizations.
Susie will always be remembered for her intelligence, generosity and sense of humour. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or another charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

I was very sorry to learn today of Susan’s passing and extend my condolences to her family on their loss. Susan and I met in high school and became very good friends for many years. I have great memories of our times together with Bobbie and Marlene - “The Mob”, including the school train trips to Ottawa/ Montreal and then Vancouver/ Victoria. Sadly, we loss touch a few years after she moved to Ottawa, but I still think of her very fondly - she was a lovely person and fun to be around. - Posted by: Serena Kraayeveld (High School Friend) on: Oct 25, 2025
