Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySANDY BEATTY
It is with great love and deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Sandy Beatty on October 25, 2025, at the age of 78. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on February 7, 1947, Sandy lived a full and joyful life surrounded by family, friends, and plenty of laughter.
Sandy is lovingly remembered by his sons, Paul and Mark, their wives Kim and Margo, and his four beloved grandchildren - Sarah, Rhys, Mackenzie, and Grace - all of whom he was endlessly proud of. He is predeceased by his parents, Norman and Louise, and by his wife Valerie, the love of his life, who passed away in 2012. It brings comfort to imagine them together again - likely already planning their next road trip.
Sandy grew up in St. Vital, graduating from Glenlawn Collegiate. He spent 34 years with the Canada Revenue Agency, beginning in field audit and retiring as Chief of Appeals. Away from work, Sandy was happiest spending summers at Granite Lake or behind the wheel of a brand-new car. He’ll be missed not only by his family but also by the car salesmen of Manitoba - who may notice a dip in business now that he’s no longer trading in for the latest model.
In retirement, Sandy and Valerie loved their winter road trips exploring the southern United States. He never missed an opportunity to spend time with family - whether at the cottage, cheering from the sidelines at his grandchildren’s games, or sharing a good meal. A man of habit and heart, Sandy was known by name in his local restaurants and was always quick with a smile, a story, or a friendly tease.
He was also known for keeping phone calls short and goodbyes even shorter - a skill he carried with him to the very end, as he "circled the wagons" one final time in his own unique way.
Sandy’s love for family, quick wit, and gift for storytelling will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. His legacy lives on in the laughter he sparked and the memories he helped create - the kind that grow warmer with each retelling.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please take someone you care about out for lunch at your favourite greasy spoon, and then take the scenic route home - Sandy would love that.

To Paul and Kim, Mark and Margo and families I was very saddened when I read of Sandy's passing.Sandy and Jim met while working at Revenue Canada and soon he and Val became frequent visitors to our house on Victory Place. I remember one time in particular when we spent New Years Eve together at our house. We were going to ring in the New Year with our Gimli Goose which was chilling in a snowbank but when we went to retrieve it the wine was frozen and the bottle cracked. I'm sure we managed to find a substitute! Even after Jim and then Val passed, Sandy found time to stop by for a visit. The last time was just a couple of months ago and on leaving he remarked about how much he had enjoyed our session of reminiscing. I will miss his visits but I'm glad to have this memory of him. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to you and your family at this difficult time. Allison and Jim JR. - Posted by: Allison Forsyth (friend) on: Nov 05, 2025

To Sandy’s family & friends: Such sad news. Please know that I share in your sadness and my heart goes out to all of you. I worked under Sandy’s leadership & guidance in the Appeals Division at the Winnipeg Tax Centre where he quickly became one of my favourite managers with whom I had a lot of respect. I will always remember his quick wit, his great sense of humour, and his fair & positive attitude. He was a terrific leader and role model. I am grateful for the time that I spent working with him and thankful for the memories that will remain with me :) “God Bless you Sandy” ❤️ My deepest sympathies, - Posted by: Linda Riench (SKIBA) (Co-worker) on: Nov 04, 2025

Sending my deepest condolences to the family and all who knew Sandy. I served Sandy at Georges over the last few years. Every time he would come in, I would spend the hour sitting at his table, sharing stories and laughing. He had the greatest advice, the most clever wit and reminded me that life is only what you make of it. I am deeply saddened by this loss and am incredibly grateful I got to know him. Sandy I will miss you so so much! Thank you for all the wonderful laughs we had, and for making my crappy days just a little bit better. ❤️ - Posted by: Chloe MacKenzie (Friend) on: Nov 04, 2025

Oh man….Paul,Mark and family, Such a surprise reading this news. Hits my heart. Don’t know what to say except I’m so so sorry for your great loss. Words can’t make it better. I have so many memories of Sandy and your family. I still go for walks at mom’s house and walk past the old house on Kingston Row and feel nostalgic. Your dad was a man of little words sometimes but there was never any doubt he cared so deeply and had a huge heart. So much love to you guys as you navigate this difficult time.💕 Jen Laurin (Forsyth) - Posted by: Jen Laurin(Forsyth) (Friend) on: Nov 01, 2025

Our late father and Sandy became good friends after they met working at the Tax office when we were kids.. Turns out that Sandy & Val lived quite close by so walking over for a visit was easy. As kids growing up, my brother & I recall Sandy and his witty priceless one liners that would send us into gut busting laughter. I cannot share here. I recall a memorable family trip with the Beattys down to the Twin Cities. Good times are etched in my mind. A thoughtful soul, Sandy continued keeping up with visits to our mother over the years ever since our Dad passed right up until recently. My sincerest condolences go out to Paul, Mark, their wives, children and extended families. Sandy was a gem and he will be dearly missed. - Posted by: Lindsay Forsyth (Family friend) on: Nov 01, 2025
