With great sorrow and sadness we the family announce the passing of John Daniel Penner on December 26, 2025 at the St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 77.
John is the beloved husband of Erna and a cherished father, papa, and grandfather to his children and grandchildren. He leaves behind his children and grandchildren: Jeff and his children, Justina and Everett; Blake and his children, Eli, Willow, and Astrid; Josh; and Jordan, his partner Kristin, his children, Elliot (adopted), Russell, Raymond, and Enna, and their mother, Allison.
He also leaves behind nine siblings and their families, two sisters-in-law and their families and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
John was predeceased by his parents, Helen and Walter Penner, two sisters, and father-in-law Abe Doerksen.
John was born September 30, 1948, in Steinbach, Manitoba the fifth of 12 children born to Helen and Walter Penner. In 1976 he married the love of his life Erna (nee Doerksen). They had 49 wonderful years of adventures together raising four sons. John’s family always came first and his joy was in spending time with them. We all benefited from his love for us and his zeal for life lives on in us.
John was a strong man of faith and Jesus Christ was his Lord and Saviour. He lead with the example of Christ’s unconditional love. John was the one that everyone counted on and came to in times of need. He was always ready to help. His strength, kindness, compassion and love were never ending. John’s smile, his humour and words of wisdom will be missed by all whose life he has touched.
