It is with deep sadness and gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Syd Reimer on January 25, 2026, at the Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg, MB.
Syd was born on April 14, 1933, in Steinbach, MB. He was the fourth of five children born to his parents, Elizabeth and Peter J. B. (Kehler) Reimer. He was raised in a loving family known for their laughter, warmth and infamous story telling. The death of his mother when he was 12 was a devastating event that he carried with him his whole life.
He found a deep and true love when he met his wife Helen. Together they created a beautiful family and a legacy that continues through their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They loved each other deeply until the very end.
His career path included managing the local lumber yard and working as a financial planner. One of his proudest accomplishments was volunteering for Mennonite Disaster Service where he served for 30 years.
Flying was one of the great loves of his life. He was a private pilot for 45 years, logging over 2000 hours of flying.
He is survived by his liebe Helen; children, Daryl Reimer, Jim Heinrichs (Janine), Dan Reimer, Kim Kroeker (Cal), Peter Reimer, James Reimer (Christine); 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Fort Garry Mennonite Fellowship, 150 Bayridge Avenue, Winnipeg.
Donations in Syd's memory may be made to Mennonite Disaster Service.

Our sincere Condolences to Helen and family. I have known Syd for 35 years and although we sometimes think we know it all; if you had the opportunity to sit and listen to Sydney, truly listen, you never walked away not having learned something new to be added to your personal toolbox of life. You will be missed dearly my friend but your memories will be cherished. With love and support, Bob, Maureen Spiers and Family, Niverville, Manitoba. - Posted by: Bob Spiers (Friend and former co-worker) on: Jan 31, 2026
