LASZLO (LESLIE) MURANYI

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Laszlo “Leslie” Muranyi on January 28, 2026, at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg. He was 85 years old.

Born on March 19, 1940, in Dévaványa, Hungary, Laszlo eventually settled in Canada, where he built a life defined by hard work and devotion. A butcher by trade, he was a man of stoic character and quiet strength who found his greatest joy in his family, especially his grandchildren, and the peaceful hours spent in his garden.

Laszlo is survived by Jadwiga, his loving wife of 53 years; his sons, Gregory (Leslie) and Andrew (Heather); and his four cherished grandchildren, Genevieve, Gabriel, Analia, and Rosalie. He was predeceased by his parents, Károly and Juliana Muranyi, and his brothers, József and Gergely.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Colin, as well as Laszlo's neighbours for their kindness and support. We also extend our deepest thanks to Ruth-Anne and the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital, the medical team at St. Boniface Hospital and the entire staff at Donwood Manor for their compassionate care.

Funeral service will tentatively be held on Thursday, February 5 at Holy Redeemer Church. Please contact Wojcik's Funeral Chapel (204-897-4665) for more information.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Laszlo’s memory to Donwood Manor.
