EDGAR JOHN GERARD BRUCE


It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Edgar John Gerard Bruce Jr. of St Laurent, Manitoba, who left us peacefully at the age of 81 on February 18, 2026.

Born to Maria Bruce (née Chaboyer) and Edgar Bruce Sr. Edgar leaves to mourn his beloved wife of 60 years, Shirley. He will be missed by his children Shirlene (Julius), Roanna, Edgar (Maryann), Angie (Bryan), and April; his 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses, doctors, and care team at St. Boniface Hospital and to the home care team in St. Laurent for their compassion during his final days.

Funeral Service will be held on February 28, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Laurent Church, followed by lunch. Interment at a later date.

  • I am so sorry for your loss. Edgar was a pillar of our community, who will be deeply missed. My heart aches for you. Edgar was an amazing person, and I feel privileged to have known him. Edgar was a Dear and loyal Friend, who was like a Brother to me. I will never forget his kindness, his wisdom and the warmth he brought to everyone. He spent his life building beautiful things for other, leaving a legacy, built into the foundation of our community. Edgar was a pillar of our community, a True Elder, who offered, wisdom and strength to everyone he met.
