DENNIS STANLEY SZMERSKI
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Dennis (aka Tetnus, Tet) announces his passing in the comfort of his home in Winnipeg, MB on April 24, 2026 at the age of 64.
Born September 11, 1961 in Pine Falls, MB to Joe and Velma Szmerski, Dennis grew up in Lac du Bonnet, MB surrounded by family and friends. He worked as a cook in Winnipeg, MB at Country Kitchen and Maxime’s, then onto reading hydro meters with Schlumberger and Manitoba Hydro, where he completed his career.
Dennis lived a life filled with fishing, music, Friday night beers with his buddies, cooking and watching all sports, particularly the Montreal Canadiens. Did we mention fishing?
The most favorite places in the world to him were The Island at McArthur Falls, MB and Rahill Beach in Red Lake, ON.
Friends and family were important to Dennis especially the little ones. A trait picked up from his Dad, Dennis was always ready with treats of candy, chips and chocolate. To say he was generous is an understatement.
Dennis and his Dad managed a household together and as the years progressed Dennis took on the caregiver role enabling his Dad to continue living comfortably at home.
Dennis is survived by his siblings: Alan, Louise (Tim) and Darlene (Shawn); nephews James (Jana), Cole; nieces Stephanie (Artemis), Jessica (Isabella, Kingston).
Dennis was predeceased by his Dad (Joe Szmerski), Mom (Velma Kulbaba) and precious niece Amy Buss.
A celebration for Dennis will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St, Winnipeg, MB.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation https://stbhf.ca/ or any charitable organization that makes you think of Dennis.
