JANET SAWCHUK
Janet Sawchuk (née Hollingsworth), born May 16, 1941, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026, just one week shy of her 85 birthday; her family is so grateful for the compassionate care given by the staff (esp. nurse Hussein) in the ACCU at St. Boniface Hospital.
Janet grew up in Winnipeg and raised her family in a loving home on Tamarind Drive. She was a talented and accomplished painter and was beloved for her family-favourite recipes. Janet found much joy in travel, especially trips to Florida, Palm Springs, the Turks & Caicos, and the BC coast; she loved gazing at ocean views, as well as the view from her Osborne Village apartment that was her home for the past 20 years.
Janet was predeceased by her husband, David, and her sister, Lois. She is survived by her three children - Kyle (Julie), Sheri and her son Finian, and Jody (Susan), and by her sister Diane. Janet was loving, kind, gentle and occasionally mischievous. Her children were the center of her world, and the closeness they shared is a testament to the love she gave them throughout her life.
A service to honour Janet will be held at Green Acres Funeral Home on Saturday, May 16 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in her memory.
