Helen Chornoby (Spence) Our beloved mother, granny, jaban, daughter, sister, aunty, grandmother, cousin, friend; passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026, in Winnipeg, MB with family by her side.
Helen was born on August 12, 1962, in The Pas, MB to Roderick and Jessie Spence. Helen is survived by her children, Roderick (Marlo), Nickolas (Tricia) and Angel (Justin); her grandchildren, Mckayla, Sky, Emarie, Avery, Justin Jr., Jase, Lily-Mae, Easton, Shiloh, Drey, Drake, Devin; her great-grandchild, Malakai; her siblings Nelson (Germaine), Herbie, Melinda (George), Clarence, Howard, Esther, Amelia (Terry) and Johnston (Freda) and by her mother Jessie Mary Spence. She was predeceased by her son's Ryan and Jacob; Her father Rodrick Spence, her brother's Victor (Eliza) and Leonard Spence.
Helen treasured the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, family and friends. Nothing brought her more happiness than being surrounded by the people she loved most, sharing laughter, stories, and simple moments together. One of her simple pleasures was driving others, keeping them company along the way, a quiet reflection of her generous spirit. She was a firm believer in the Lord and Saviour. Beautiful inside and out, she shared God’s love through her warmth, compassion, and gentle spirit. She was a blessing in the lives of many, and her light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
The family would like to sincerely thank everyone who has sent their love, prayers, condolences, and kind wishes during this difficult time. Your support, compassion, and thoughtfulness have brought great comfort to our family. We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the ICMS Unit at St. Boniface Hospital for their exceptional care, kindness, and compassion shown to our mother and our family throughout her time there.
Viewings held at Eternal Grace Funerals, 1111 Logan Ave in Winnipeg, MB on Tuesday May 26, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., and Northland Funeral Services, 28 Nelson Rd, Thompson, MB on Thursday May 28, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Wake Services will be held in Split Lake, MB on Thursday May 28, and Friday May 29, 2026. Funeral Service held in Split Lake, MB on Saturday, May 30, 2026, with burial to follow at Split Lake Cemetery.
