LAWRENCE BRIAN RECKSIEDLER

December 30, 1948 - May 19, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lawrence Recksiedler.

Lawrence, aged 77, passed away peacefully on May 19th at the St. Boniface Hospital after battling Pulmonary Fibrosis for numerous years.

Lawrence will be lovingly missed by his wife Lise, his sons Eric (An Macapagal), Ian (Danielle) and his grandchildren, Nathanael and Mateo.

He leaves to mourn his sister Iris, brother Nelson (Tannis), brother Ken (Brenda), sister Sharon (Larry), sister Jennifer (Marc), brother Garry (Brenda), brother-in-law Henri, sister-in-laws Mia & Joanne and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Herman and Nora, parents-in-law Andre and Fern, brother Art, brother-in-law Ed and sisters-in-law Marie, Cecile, and Madeleine.

Lawrence cherished the time he spent with his family, especially playing and reading with his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his determination, hard work and his commitment to doing what is right. Although Lawrence was a man of few words, often happier listening than leading the conversation, that never seemed to be the case when him and his friend Franz got started in their spirited discussions, talking politics, the world and life in general.

Summer was never long enough for Lawrence, always eager to spend as much time outside as he could once winter was over. His love of nature included hiking with the Native Orchid Conservation Inc., hitting eighteen holes with his golfing buddies and taking care of his beautiful yard and garden.

Once Lawrence retired, he and Lise finally had the chance to travel the world, enjoying and experiencing different cultures across the globe. Lawrence never missed an opportunity to capture the moment during their travels, showcasing his skills as an avid photographer.

His son Ian believes his strongest qualities were his humanity, his joy and his honesty. His quiet nature belied the joy he had in his heart and the love he had for the people he cared about. Hearing him laugh at a good joke was the best sound in the world.

In keeping with Lawrence’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Cremation has taken place with a private family interment. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
