Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT (MARVIN) SVEINN OLSON
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the accidental passing of Marvin on May 29, 2026, at age 51.
Marvin is survived by his mother Gerri, his children Cameron (Shailynn), Brandon, Shelby (Gowan), Tyler, their mother Lezley and his precious grandchildren Clara, Anthony, Klarissa, Kylie, Gage, Garrett and baby due in July.
Also to mourn his passing are his grandmother Emily, sisters Lynne (Joey), Tammy, Tiffany (Corey), nieces Jessica (Quinn), Sarah and nephews Dylan (Morgan), Nolan, Ashton (Alyssa), Mason, Conley, along with great-niece Laila and great-nephews Rhett and Coleson. Marv had a large circle of extended family and friends. His fur babies Blue and Nora will miss his cuddles.
He was predeceased by his father Robert, his grandparents Sveinn, Halli, Kristine, Auntie Joyce and Uncles Thor and Raymond and close friend Craig.
Marvin attended both Riverton and Arborg schools and graduated high school in 1993. He enjoyed playing and watching hockey and attending any of his children’s events over the years, but more importantly was the time Marv spent with his family and grandchildren. He will be affectionately remembered as “Funny Silly Afi”.
Marvin worked various jobs before his almost 20 year career as a corrections officer at Stony Mountain Penitentiary. He always had time for a beer and a chat with friends and will be missed dearly. The family wishes his honorary pallbearers to be his classmates of ‘93.
Marvin wished for a private family service and to be buried alongside his father in Geysir.
The family wishes to thank the First Responders, RCMP and the community support we received during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in Marvin’s memory can be made to the Geysir Cemetery Box 796 Arborg, MB R0C 0A0, or a charity of your choice.

Marvin, I am so grateful for the memories we made the last few months. Our breakfasts at Zans’ with Sarah and Brandon and especially the road trip to Lockport the down Historic Highway 1 to the Ontario border. There we saw the sign that said Kenora 66kms, so off we went to see the big green chair and have lunch at A&W. On our way home, we went to Pinawa and South Beach for supper then home. The time I spent with you after your hip surgery, I can still hear you calling “Mom, Mom” when you needed my help. I also discovered when you made soup, you would make the soup in 1 pot then boil macaroni in a 2nd pot. When they were both ready, you would add the cooked macaroni to the soup. Conley has his tomato soup that exact same way too. Our last outing together was to Fisher Branch to watch Garrett’s soccer game, and it was so very cold but you grabbed all the jackets, mitts, and toques from your car so we wouldn’t freeze. I knew how much you were looking forward to Shelby’s baby coming in July, you loved your children and grandchildren so much. Love you son and I miss your morning and evening texts. I miss you so much. Love Mom - Posted by: Gerri Sigurdson (Mom) on: Jun 25, 2026

My sincere condolences to all of the family and friends. I only spent a couple years working with Marvin, but anytime we worked together he would chat about his family. He knew what mattered in life, and was easy to be around, and I'm so sorry that his time was cut short. - Posted by: Krista (Work) on: Jun 23, 2026

Marvin and I went through training together when we first started at Stony Mountain. It was one of our classmates and friend who informed me of this tragedy. He was a great man and we shared many laughs. He was truly loved🙏💙😇 - Posted by: Disco Dave (Friend) on: Jun 22, 2026

I will miss you so very deeply and will think of you often Mister O. I am so very grateful for the short amount of time we shared. We had many talks, laughs, bestie road trip adventures planned, fishing lessons to start and many other plans. I will especially miss your sense of humour; rated R at times, your use of the word incredible, oh my, okie dokie, uhmm, along with many other words spoken. I will especially miss how generous you were with your watermelon. tried to be a bossy friend and insist you clean the inside of your car but I noticed you’d much rather wash the outside instead. I felt the need to inform you coop was making big bucks from you! I also wanted to sneak into your yard and take that flag down too, but I knew evidence would be left behind. I also wanted to buy you blue recycling bags for your recycling, I didn’t know if you knew there was such a thing because you would make several daily trips to Riverdale. Thank you Marvin for so many wonderful memorable memories that I will carry in my heart forever. Till we meet again Mister O. - Posted by: Lisa Gislason (Friend) on: Jun 13, 2026
