SHEILA PATRICIA ROBERTSON

(née FIDDES)

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Sheila Patricia Robertson (née Fiddes), lovingly known to most as "Oma.” Sheila passed away on July 11, 2026, at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 24, 1940, at the Misericordia Hospital in Winnipeg to John William Fiddes and Ruth Eileen Fiddes (née Begg).

Sheila was predeceased by her husband, Donald Robertson.

She will be missed deeply by her children, Debbie Batista (Tony), Sandra Dee Cunha (John), and Greg Fowlie (Margaret); her grandchildren, Remington and Cameron Batista (Chloe), Chris (Jenny) and Adilia Cunha, Kristina and Johnny Fowlie (Erin), and David Morris (Miranda); as well as her treasured great-grandchildren, Cassia, Madeline, Junior, Barrett, Kadence, Raya, and Ivory.

Family was the heart of Sheila's life. Beyond her own children, she also opened her home as a foster parent and later cared for many more children through her daycare services. Nurturing, generous, and quick to laugh, she had a gift for making people feel welcomed, seen, and cared for. She found joy in books, music, dancing, animals, and sharing a bottle of wine with those she loved.

Her quirky sayings and legacy of resilience, generosity, laughter, and unconditional love will live on in all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Sokol Hall, 717 Manitoba Avenue, Winnipeg. We welcome all who knew and loved Sheila to join us on what would have been her 86th birthday, to share the memories that made her so special.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Dear Debbie, Sandy and Greg I’m very sorry for your loss. I’ve thought often of your mother and you three in the years since I lost my own mother, Nellie. There was a gap in age between us but I remember you well. Our mothers had an enduring friendship that lasted decades. They stayed in touch frequently and mom would share tidbits of news about what was going on in your lives until near the end of her life. I’ve missed all that ever since. You were all special to our family. Your mom was everything her obituary says about her. So well said. May you find peace in her passing. - Posted by: Mark Larocque (Long ago family acquaintance) on: Jul 18, 2026
