MARY STRUSS (HOMENIUK)
Born: Jun 10, 1918
Date of Passing: Sep 27, 1999
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY STRUSS (nee HOMENIUK) We regretfully announce the untimely passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother (Baba), Mary Struss, aged 81 years, beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Struss, on Monday, September 27, 1999. She will be so sadly missed by her children, Ray (Anne) Struss of Lac du Bonnet, Eleanor Saluk of Lockport, Marie (Laurence) Kiernicki of Winnipeg; grandsons Kelly Struss, Randy (Leona) Saluk, Ryan and Kyle Kiernicki; granddaughter Shelley (Joe) Dubois; precious great granddaughters Ashlee Struss, Hayley Saluk and Nicole Dubois; also sisters Pauline Lashek and Doris Skalicky and brother Mike Harasym. Mom was predeceased by her dear husband Joseph on June 13, 1995; her son-in-law Henry Saluk on January 16, 1991; her brothers Peter and Andrew Homeniuk, Steve Harasym and her sister Anne Nejedly. Mom was born on June 10, 1918 in the Green Oak area to the late Michael and Waselyna Homeniuk. Mom married Dad on October 8, 1936. They enjoyed 59 memorable happy years together. They operated a general store in Green Oak for 46 years. Mom was a very gentle, loving, hard working person totally devoted to her family. The values she instilled will remain with us forever. Her children will miss her family gatherings sorely (especially her cabbage rolls). No one left her home without enjoying her kind hospitality. Mom left us with a legacy of laughter and humour and would want us all to remember her for that special quality. When Dad was confined to the Betel Home, Mom never missed a day being by his side, always giving of herself, asking nothing in return. God speaks his language through people, Mom was one of his workers. Thank you Mom for giving us the Best Years of our lives with you. Prayers will be held on Thursday, September 30 at 8:30 p.m. at the Sobering Funeral Chapel, Park Ave. E. Beausejour. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 1 at 2:00 p.m. also at the Sobering Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Beausejour Cemetery. The Most Rev. Stefan Soroka and the Rev. Canon Walter Klimchuk will be officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren carrying Baba to her final resting place beside grandpa. Sincere thanks is extended to the Beausejour Ambulance and the staff of the Beausejour and St. Boniface Hospitals for their efforts and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mom, may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, Man., R3B 2H8. Sobering Funeral Chapel & Crematorium in care of arrangements. Phone 1-204-268-3510.
