CHRISTODOULIDES It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Christodoulos (Chris) Christodoulides, son of the late Kyriacos Christodoulides, Athena Christodoulidou, husband of Helen and father of Kyriacos, Andreas and Maria Christodoulides, on 29 February 2000 at St. Boniface General Hospital in Winnipeg. He was sixty-three. Chris was born in Cyprus, in the town of Tymbou, on 21 November 1936. In 1948, he received a scholarship to attend the Commercial Lyceum of Nicosia where he graduated first in his class in 1954. In 1955, he was recruited by the Hellenic Organisation of Cypriot Fighters (Ellenike Organosis Kyprion Agoniston - EOKA) with whom he fought to expel the British occupation forces until their defeat in 1958. In a professional capacity, he worked in Nicosia at Photos Photiades Ltd. where he headed the Communications Department from 1955 to 1963. In the period between 1963 and 1974, he served as the Proprietor and President of BISCO Trading Company and as the Managing Director of Euroautoparts Ltd. between 1972 and 1974. On 30 November 1974, Chris and his family immigrated to Canada following the Turkish invasion of the Island in July of that year. He attended the University of Winnipeg from 1975 to 1980 where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. He worked in the real estate and service industries, where he operated a Macs Convenience franchise until June 1999. Chris was also very involved in the affairs of his community. He served as president of the Cypriot association of Manitoba for over a decade and as Vice-president of the Cypriot Federation of Canada. In addition to many other family and friends, Chris will be deeply missed by his brothers Georgios, Panikos and Nikos; his sisters, Androulla, Niki, Eleni and Myroulla, as well as his grandchildren, Christian, Gregory, Ares and Christian and his daughters-in-laws, Nathalie and Jainy Christodoulidou. We would like to thank St. Boniface General Hospital, particularly for the valiant efforts of Dr. Andres Maksymiuk. Prayers will be said on Friday 3 March at 7:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday 4 March at 1:00 p.m. at Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2255 Grant Ave. The Reverend Father Dimitrios will be officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. Donations may be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, R2H 2A6.
