Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARJORIE ALEXANDRA (KOPYTKO) THOMPSON Our mother, Marjorie Alexandra Kopytko was born on her parents' farm on January 6, 1947. She attended Griffith School until grade 8 and then attended high school at Alonsa Collegiate. After leaving school, she moved to Winnipeg with a great deal of optimism and excitement. She enjoyed her employment with the Kimberly Clark factory in Winnipeg. While there, she made new friends with whom she loved to shop and have lunch at the Bay downtown. Mom loved the city! She married Leonard Thompson on September 19, 1967. They moved to St. Paul, MN shortly after their marriage where they had their first child, daughter Chontaille Mae. Mom enjoyed her years in the U.S. and was sorry to leave. They returned to Canada in 1970 and took over her father and mother-in-laws' grocery store in Amaranth MB. Mom worked very hard in the grocery store which later became a hardware store and especially liked dealing with the local customers. In 1974, Mom was blessed with another daughter, Tiffanee Joy. In 1984, the family moved to Airdrie, AB where Mom became the assistant manager of a motor hotel. While living in Airdrie, Mom enjoyed curling, camping, and drives up to the mountains. The family returned to Manitoba in 1985 and settled in Dauphin. Mom spent the next few years caring for her children and her home. In 1990, Mom and Dad opened their own florist shop. Mom ran a very successful business for eight years. Mom loved the creative side of the business and took special joy in having satisfied customers. The store was sold in 1998. Mom spent the last of her years in Dauphin and enjoyed time spent working for home care and as a teacher's aide for the Mountainview School Division. Mom also made time for traveling to places like Mexico and BC. Family and friends were very important to our Mother and she always made an effort to spend time with them. Mom spent many hours having coffee and chatting with her neighbours. Most importantly, Mom adored her children, sons-in-law, and grandchildren. Mom lived for her grandchildren. Mom always said that her grandchildren were her life and she was blessed to be present at the birth of her first grandchild, Cody Jordan. There was always a special bond between Mom and Cody. Mom loved and praised her two granddaughters, Bethany and Avery and couldn't cover them with enough hugs and kisses. Mom spent a lot of time in visiting the homes of Chontaille in Winnipeg and Tiffanee in Brandon. Mom passed away peacefully on November 25 in her home. She was pre-deceased by her father and mother William and Mary Kopytko, baby brother Kelvin, oldest brother Peter Kopytko and her only sister Vi Horwat. Left to mourn and terribly miss her are her daughter Chontaille and her family, Tyson, Bethany, and Avery, her daughter Tiffanee and her family, Mike and Cody, her brother Leonard (Eleanor) Kopytko and brother-in-law Joe Horwat. Also left to mourn are many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends whom Mom loved very much. Prayers are Tuesday, November 29 at 7:00 p.m. at the Sneath-Strilchuk funeral chapel in Dauphin.
