Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNORMA THORARINSON (nee BJARNASON) Peacefully on March 3, 2006, our beloved mother passed away at Dear Lodge Hospital. Norma will be forever missed by her children David Thorarinson, Kathy (Baillie) Davies, their children Kyle (Melanie) and Barret (Lorena); Roy Thorarinson and Heidi Lewis, their children Jennifer (Jason) and Colin. She also leaves to mourn her passing, her sisters Inga Isfeld of Sandy Hook and Anna O'Brien of Ajax, ON, as well as her good friends and sister-in-law Ingibjorg McDonald of Moose Jaw, SK, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Thor, her parents Feldis and Olafur, her sisters Goodie, Vickie and Alda and brothers Bill, Joe, John and Donnie. Norma was born in Gimli on September 18, 1923 and spent her childhood and youth there. One of her fondest memories was diving off the end of the Gimli pier and swimming in Lake Winnipeg with her siblings. She was an avid reader, loved crosswords and walked for miles with her four-legged companions in tow. She also loved her traveling experiences and her greatest joy was dining out. She married our father in 1948 (love at first sight) and subsequently moved to Riverton where she spent all of her married life. She worked hard throughout her life and met all challenges with determination, strength of character and a belief that you can do anything you set your mind to. We would like to thank the caring staff of 5 West at Deer Lodge Hospital where she spent the last five years of her life after a tragic accident. Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held on Tues. March 7 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gimli Community Cemetery with Pastor Trudy Thorarinson officiating. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Salvation Army or to the Winnipeg Humane Society. FREE AT LAST No funeral gloom my dears, When I am gone Tears, black rainment, graveyard grimness. Think of me as drawn into the dimness Yours still, you mine. Remember all the best of our past moments And forget the rest And to where I wait come gently on. Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Gimli in care of arrangements.
