EVA THOMPSON 1916 - 2006 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Eva Thompson, at Portage la Prairie General Hospital, on Tuesday March 14, 2006. Predeceased by our father Mac, in 2000 and by two children in infancy, Daniel and Evie. Mom was also predeceased by her parents, Stephan and Hattie Sul; three brothers, John, Steve and Emil; five sisters, Kay Slipetz, Sally Rogosky, Anne Davey, Mary Millan, Francis Grace and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Left to mourn and miss her terribly are her five children, Tom (Alice) of Amaranth and his children, Chris, A-Lynn and Ashley; Lillian (Paul) Delveaux of Winnipeg and their children, Blair (Debbie), Brent (Vicky) and Melody (Scott); Elizabeth (Dennis) Isfeld of Kamloops and their children, Kevin, Jeff and Derek (Monique); Lorne (Brenda) of Grand Prairie and his children, Tamara (Jackie) and David; Bob (Nadena); nine great-grandchildren; her last remaining sibling Sophie Sul; and last remaining sister-in-law Kay Thompson, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mom was born on March 2, 1916 on her parents homestead in the Glenhope district of McCreary, MB. She had many happy memories of her childhood growing up on the farm. Unfortunately, due to the tragic death of her father, she left school to help support the family. In 1935, Mom married our dad and for the next few years Mom helped with farming in the Glencairn, and Glenella areas. In 1946 they moved to Kelwood where they lived until 1960, moving to Amaranth after purchasing the Esso Bulk Oil Sales, and later adding the New Holland Farm Equipment dealership. As a young mother raising her family, Kelwood always held a special spot in her heart. Mom supported Dad in all his work endeavours both physically and mentally. In Amaranth she became active in the community with W.I., the Amaranth Fair, winning many prizes, the Catholic Church, and later the New Horizon Senior Centre. She loved to sew, to garden, and to go berry picking. This was her passion. At the ripe age of 80, Mom passed her drivers license test so as to be able to be more independent to hunt down the berry patches. Our parents loved to travel to visit family in British Columbia, Alberta, Toronto and Winnipeg and the once in a lifetime trips to Mexico, Arizona, Great Britain and Belgium. Mom was always proud of her children, grandchildren and their accomplishments. She always inquired about her great grandchildren. Family was her first priority and she was happiest when we were with her to surround us with her love. Prayers are in the Chapel at the Omega Funeral Home in Portage La Prairie on Friday, March 17 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral mass will be said at Our Lady of the Angels Roman Catholic Church in Amaranth, MB on Saturday, March 18 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Sunville Cemetery near Glenella, MB. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, Room ON1160, 675 McDermid Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9, or to the Canadian Red Cross, PO Box 2441, Station Main, Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9. Omega Funeral Home, Portage La Prairie is in care of arrangements. We love you Mom and will miss you terribly. Vichnaya Pam'yat
