Martin was predeceased by his older sister Selma Sigesmund and his mother Sally Tallman. He leaves behind to celebrate his life, his father Daniel Tallman; stepmother May Tallman; his loving wife, soulmate and best friend of 30 years, Gloria Tallman; his daughter Kristin Goodhand-Tallman; son Alexander Tallman; granddaughter Morgan Tallman; parents-in-law, Agnes and Sam Pohl; sisters-in-law, Barbara Deacon, Samantha Matychuk (husband Dave and their son Christopher); brother-in-law Bryan Pohl (Trish); nephew Marshall Sigesmund (wife Leslie and their two sons, Mitchell and Grant); his niece Roberta Evtuch (husband Ray and their children, Rachel and Jeffrey) and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He placed great value on his extended family, Roberta and Dr. Ron Chochinov (daughters, Jennifer and Carrie (Andy) and Michael and Candis Tadman (daughter Julia). Martin was born in Winnipeg, MB. The only son to Sally and Daniel Tallman. He graduated from Grant Park High School and had a long and varied work history developing many talents and loyal friendships along the way. He enjoyed living life to the fullest and was particularly fond of cars and working on his hot rod through the years. He spent over 20 successful years working in the family business overseeing the Place Louis Riel All-Suite Hotel. Martin was a charitable forward to many charities, such as the Autism Society, Dr. Goodbear for Children's Hospital Research Foundation, The Variety Club of Manitoba, The Canadian Friends of the Hebrew University and many more. He was a generous man in many ways. Martin had a passion for golf. He would often say spending a day on the golf course with his great golfing buddies was a day well spent . He was very proud of all of his golfing accomplishments. He was honored to be the President of Glendale Golf and Country Club from 1998 to 1999. Martin had many cherished friends in every walk of life. Some of these friendships have lasted a lifetime. The love, encouragement and countless visits with his close friends and family, gave him much of his strength. He was very positive during his battle. He often kept the spirits of those around him strong. He was a true cancer warrior! Up to his last day, he fought long and strong. He never gave up hope. Family was very important to Martin. He spent the last year of his life retired at home, enjoying much time and memorable moments with his wife Gloria, son Alexander, daughter Kristin, granddaughter Morgan, his father Daniel and his stepmother May. He also spent much devoted time pursuing another passion that he shared with his son Alexander. Together, they planned, shovelled, levelled and created the Tallman Toltec Scenic Railroad. Hooked up to his chemotherapy fanny pack, fighting off the Manitoba mosquitoes and dealing with unpredictable weather conditions, Martin was out there almost every day working side by side with Alexander. Martin was so proud to share this dream and devoted time with Alex. The dream will go on. On March 3, 2006, a heartfelt service was held for Martin by Rabbi Lawrence M. Pinsker and Cantor Anibal Mass at the Shaarey Zedek, Synagogue and was laid to rest at the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery. The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses and support staff at the St. Boniface CancerCare and Hospital for all of their help and support. In Martin's memory, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Martin will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends. Peace be with you. Always in our hearts and forever loved.
