EDWIN THORKELSON Peacefully on Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at the E.M. Crowe Hospital in Eriksdale, Edwin passed away with family at his side. Edwin was born on December 12, 1926 at the Victoria Hospital in Winnipeg, the eldest child and only son of Barney and Juliette (Henrotte). He was raised on the family farm and attended Deerhorn School. On August 18, 1949 Edwin married Doris (Paterson) and lived on the original family homestead. After three years of marriage, he moved with his wife and daughter to SE 28-20-5W quarter where he resided until his passing. Farming was in his blood, first with his father and grandfather, then on his own and in later years with his sons. Edwin is survived by his wife Doris of 56 years; his six children, Valerie (Allen) Johnson of Winnipeg, Wayne (Sharon) of Grande Cache, Grant (Charlene) of Lundar, Frank (Joan) of Teulon, Greg, Donald (Wendy) of Lundar; his 13 grandchildren, Robert (Kerri), Cyndy (Raymond), Michelle (Les), Curtis (Jessica), Melissa (Jeff), Annette, Ashley (Tyler), Dylan, Nicole (Dennis), Justin (Ashlee), Brian, Jennifer, and Cheryl; his five great-grand-children, Thomas Johnson, Ryan and Kyle Geske, Keidyn Lindal, Emily McMahon; his sisters, Ruth Jeffers, Luella Erickson, Evelyn Richaud, and Doreen Duncan; brother-in-law Raymond and sisters-in-law Connie and Irma; many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Edwin was predeceased by his parents, Bjorn Barney and Juliette; in-laws Lorne and Josephine; sisters-in-law Mrytle Peggy , and Doreen; brothers-in-law Tom, Charles Bud , Heide, Hermas, August, Lorne, Cliff, and Jim. Friends and relatives may pay their respects between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 19, at the Arnason Funeral Home in Lundar. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20 at the Lundar Municipal Cemetery with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Pallbearers will be Justin Thorkelson, Curtis Thorkelson, Dylan Thorkelson, Robert Johnson, Cyndy Geske, and Albert Russell. The family would like to thank the Doctors, nurses and staff at the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital for the care they gave Edwin.
