OLGA SYCHYLO 1925 - 2006 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Olga Sychylo on Sunday, July 16, 2006 at Seven Oaks Hospital with her family at her side. She fought a hard and courageous battle with cancer. Olga leaves to mourn her beloved son Walter; daughter Irene and husband Mike Halabura; grandson George, his wife Karen and their daughters, Bryanna and Stephanie Halabura; grandson Daniel Sychylo and his mother Dianne Domaratzski; numerous nieces and nephews in Ukraine and many friends in Canada. She was predeceased by her husband John (1994); son Ihor (2003); her parents; four brothers, four sisters; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Olga was born June 7, 1925 in the village of Kosiv, Ivana-Frankivska oblast, Western Ukraine. She had to leave her beloved Ukraine during the war and went to Germany. She married John Sychylo in 1947. Together, they first went to England and then in November 1949, the immigrated to Canada, settling in Winnipeg. Olga was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a good cook, gardener and seamstress, and she always had good advice to give. Olga was a devoted Christian, attending St. Andrew's Ukrainian Catholic Church, and belonging to the UCWLC of her church. Prayers will be sung 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 20 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 21 at St. Andrew's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 160 Euclid Ave. with Fr. L. Ratushniak, C.Ss.R. officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
