MARION BICKET THOMPSON (nee KERR) Marion died peacefully in Grace Hospital on August 6, 2006 at the age of 97. She was born on the family farm west of Portage la Prairie. Her husband Sydney David Thompson and all 10 of her siblings predeceased her. She lived a long, healthy and full life. Surviving her are her daughters, Jean Loughead (Eric) in Calgary and Lorraine Farries (Mel) in Qualicum Beach and her son Gordon Thompson (Gail) in Saskatoon, as well as several nieces and nephews, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was a kind, gentle, resourceful and independent woman, who instilled in her children a strong sense of self-confidence. For the past eight years she resided in Lion's Manor and enjoyed playing bridge and whist, and socializing with others. She had many friends and sought to maintain harmonious relationships with others. She was a frequent letter writer, and as the last surviving member of her own and her husband's families, she maintained an active interest in her extended family. The family wishes to thank the nursing staff at Grace Hospital (2 South) who cared for her in a gentle and compassionate way. We also want to especially acknowledge the generous and kind attention given to our mother over the past many years by our cousin Loretta Carmichael. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 11 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment and reception will follow. Flowers gratefully declined. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made in memory of Marion to a charity of your choice. She was of good cheer' So we are poorer by having lost her But we are richer by having loved her So be of good cheer. CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715
