CECELIA SZCZEPANSKI (nee KOZLOWSKI) June 7, 1925 August 25, 2006 With deep sadness the family of Cecelia Szczepanski announce her passing on August 25, 2006, Cecelia at the age of 81. Known as Babchi by her family and many friends, she was loved and cherished by all. She was predeceased by her father Antony and mother Zofii in Poland, husband Walter on October 16, 2000. She leaves to cherish her loving memory her children, Richard (Vera), Jean Phillips, Tony and daughter-in-law Leslie. She was devoted to her grandchildren Paula, Vanessa and Andrew, Juilien and Jesse, Bailey and Kash, great grandchild Juilien Richard, dear sister-in-law Genia Orlukiewicz, nephews George and Tom, cousin Lonia (Stefan), Ted and Chris Olbrecht and many relatives in Poland. Among many friends, her dearest friends Helen Arlukiewicz and Wanda Clapa. Born in Kalicz, Poland, Cecelia lived on a farm with her siblings and parents. At a young age she was taken to Germany to work on a dairy farm prior to The Second World War, After the war she courageously left the old country, leaving her family and emigrated to Canada. She worked at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg and later met and married Walter. They raised their two sons and daughter, making their lives in Winnipeg. Cecelia worked in the leather garment industry at Victoria Leather for many years and after retirement she spent most of her time with her grandchildren. She was known as Babchi to her grandsons' hockey teams and she cheered them on. She enjoyed taking her family and friends out for lunch and dinners. Christmas Eve was a tradition at Babchi's house. Babchi had so much love for everyone and was very loved in return. We are saddened by her passing and she will remain in our hearts forever. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 30 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Cantius' Roman Catholic Church, 846 Burrows Avenue with Rev. Fr. Henry Uczniak as Celebrant. Interment to follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery, 4387 Main St., West St. Paul. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Cecelia's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
