KENNETH LEIGH THORARINSON July 4, 1963 - November 8, 2006 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, Ken Thorarinson, at age 43 years on Hecla Island, November 8, 2006. Ken was predeceased by his father, Kris (Buddy) Thorarinson, in 1995. Ken will be lovingly remembered and missed by his mother, Irene; brother Glenn, Meire Anne (sister-in-law), Jessica (niece); his sister Lesley Thorarinson, Kristinn Finnson (brother-in-law) and Alysha Finnson (niece). Amma, Anna Thorarinson, Uncle and Aunt, Brian and Lyla Thorarinson and cousins, Rob Thorarinson and Leanne Bisignano and families. He will also be missed by many other family members and friends. Ken grew up in Riverton, Manitoba and moved to Winnipeg to study and receive his Bachelor of Arts Degree and Accelerated Commerce Degree at the University of Manitoba. After working for a brief period at the Mutual Group he discovered his true calling was to evangelize for Christ. He attended Providence College with the intent to become a minister. Ken volunteered his time in the core area bringing the Christian message to young people. In his happier years, Ken's happiest times were with family spending time on the boat on Lake Winnipeg or spending time out at Hecla. Ken was full of life, love, laughter, and determination in everything that he did. He loved spending time with his brother Glenn in the outdoors, travelling to Australia/Hawaii, discussing and arguing politics and discussing all he learned about Christianity. He was very generous of himself and with whatever he had to help the less fortunate and to the ones he loved. Ken was very devoted to his family. He cared for his mother after his dad passed away and was always worried about his families' happiness and wellbeing over his own. He spent the majority of his adult life devoted to Christ and witnessing to everyone. It was very important to Ken that everyone he cared about had accepted the Christian faith and after this life, would all be together again in heaven. A small funeral for family and friends will be held at the Grant Memorial Church on Saturday, December 16, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Ken will be cremated and burial will be held in the spring. The family would like to give warm thanks to all that assisted in the search for Ken. Arborg and Gimli RCMP and Dive Team, The Volunteers of CAST (Canadian Amphibious Search Team), and all the volunteers from Hecla Island and Winnipeg for their help in the search and preparing food for the search teams. Special thanks to Brian (uncle) and Rob (cousin) for their persistence in finding Ken by organizing the search teams. Flowers declined. Any donation that would like to be made is asked to be sent to either: The Volunteer Group of CAST (Canadian Amphibious Search Team), 300 930 Jefferson Ave. Winnipeg, MB R2P 1W1, for helping families search for loved ones, or to, World Vision, to help less fortunate children. Ken we know you are at Home and in Peace with Jesus and until we meet again farewell! I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety. (Psalm 4:8) Love You Ken! Your family.
