LENA SWIFT It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, Lena. Lena passed away at Rosewood Lodge in Stonewall on December 9, 2006 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born in Armstrong Municipality, Manitoba on July 28, 1921. She was predeceased by her husband George, her parents Thomas and Janet McCormick, brother Thomas, and sisters Mary Crawford, Margaret Smith and Jennie Silk. She is survived by her brothers, Edward and James (Irene) McCormick, and sisters, Annie Thomson and Agnes (Bill) Dopson, brother-in-law Bill Smith and many nieces and nephews. Lena and George lived in Lake Francis, Manitoba and moved to Winnipeg in the early years of their life together. Lena worked at various positions in Winnipeg until she began employment at Thelma Corsetry where she worked and later became owner/operator of the business. She spent approximately 30 years at Thelma Corsetry and displayed her talent for sewing during her many years in the business. Lena had many faithful customers who valued her expertise and who were very sad when she retired in 1997. Lena was always a very kind and generous person and helped many people during her lifetime. She was always willing to assist those in need. We saw the glimmer leave your eyes and we saw hope fade away as days passed. We will always remember your love and your sense of humor that you shared with us during our many visits. The pain and confusion are now gone and you are safe in the arms of Jesus. Her family would like to thank the staff at Rosewood Lodge in Stonewall for their kindness and care during Lena's time there and thank you to the wonderful people from Palliative Care for their support and kindness during Lena's time of need. Funeral service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2006. Viewing will take place prior to the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Lena's memory to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 4G2.
