ERIC THOMAS THORSTEINSON July 14, 1946 - October 21, 2007 Eric passed away peacefully at the age of 61, surrounded by family at E.M Crowe Memorial Hospital in Eriksdale, Manitoba after a two and one half year battle with Cancer. Eric was born on the family farm in Abbyville and grew up in the RM of Coldwell. Eric met Ruth and they married in 1967. Together they had three children, Bernice (Jack), Tim (Sigrid) and Lori (Mick). From 1974 to 1978 Eric raised his children on his own until he met Ann. They married and had Ken (Jody) making their home in Ste. Rita. In 1986 Eric moved back to Winnipeg and met Verna whom he married on October 7, 1989. They shared 18 years together blending a family consisting of Eric's four children and Verna's two children Lori (Dave), and Chris. Eric had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren Tina (Jeff), JR, Leeann, David, Crystal, Kristie, Victoria, Tristen, Izabella, Cali, Justin, Talon and great-grandson Oden. Eric moved to Oakpoint in 1994 and from there he moved to Lundar in 2002 where he fulfilled his dream of building his own home, which he completed in May of 2003 with his wife Verna. Eric was a carpenter by trade; he received his Interprovincial Certificate of Carpentry from Red River College in May 1974. He was a hard worker all his life, supervising the building of the Winnipeg Youth Centre, many schools and Care homes in Winnipeg and across Manitoba. Family meant everything to Eric and in later years raising his Bichon puppies. Eric is survived by his ten siblings Raymond (Joan), Arthur (Margaret), Patsy (John), Dianne (Ivan), Carol (Paul), Dorothy (Normand), Clifford (Sandra), Larry (Susie), Garry (Tracy), Bonnie (Carey), many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law Lorraine (Amile), Nadine, brother-in-law Ernie and friends. Eric was predeceased by his parents Albert and Florence Thorsteinson. A celebration of his life will be held at the Lutheran Church in Lundar, Manitoba on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Trudy Thorarinson officiating. The interment will follow the service at the Otto Church Yard Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be his four children Bernice, Tim, Lori and Ken. Honorary pallbearers his brothers: Raymond, Arthur, Clifford, Larry, Garry and good friend Donny Halldorson. Following the interment refreshments will be served at the Lundar Community Hall.
