JOHN THOMPSON October 29, 1935 - December 1, 2007 Following a sudden and prolonged illness and with family by his side, John Thompson peacefully passed away on December 1, 2007, at the age of 72 years. John was predeceased by his wife, Maureen, in 2004. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his companion, Lorraine, his son Andrew, his daughter Candace, his mother-in-law, Anne Marie, his grandsons, Sebastian and Gavin, and the many wonderful friends he has found in the 40 years he has made his home in Canada. John is also survived by his sister Shirley, her husband Bill and other family in the United Kingdom. John has been actively involved in the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans Association of Canada. He was a longtime member of ANAF Unit 283 in Winnipeg, serving on the Provincial Command and was the current Dominion President for ANAVETS. He has had a busy and happy retirement, volunteering extensively for ANAVETS, golfing and spending time with his grandsons. Throughout their time in Canada, John and Maureen shared their home, their family and their love with many children in the foster care system. Family members give their heartfelt thanks to Lorraine for the tremendous love, care and kindness that she has given John through his illness.
