Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEAN MARY TICEHURST The family of Jean Mary Ticehurst (nee Voss) wishes to announce the death of their much loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother at the Salvation Army Grace Hospice on December 29, 2007. Jean was born on November 28, 1916 in Treherne, Manitoba, and moved with her family to Winnipeg in 1926. After high school she worked at Woolworth's in Winnipeg until 1941. Jean and Don provided a home for her parents, Mary and Frederick Voss, her sister Janet, and later for Don's mother Maud. Jean and Don started a retail paint store and worked together until Jean's health forced them to retire. They spent eight happy years enjoying retirement until Don's death in 1987. Jean was very involved with her family and business, but found time to be part of the close knit Beaverbrook Street community. Jean was a founding member of Westworth United Church and for many years was active in the WCA. Jean was an avid reader and passed her love of reading on to her daughters. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles until the end of her life. Jean was the youngest child of the Voss family. She was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Frederick Voss; her sisters, Flora Collins and Janet Voss; her brothers, James, Frederick and Donald; and her brother-in-law Fred Collins; and is survived by her sisters-in-law, Nan and Lillian Voss. Jean will be sorely missed by her family. In Winnipeg she leaves her daughter Barbara (Lucien Debreuil), her grandson Daniel and his wife Mary Jane and her three great-grand-children, Maria, James and Paul who were very close to their big Grandma . Her daughter Kathy (Steven Diskin) of Victoria, grandson Matt (Toronto) and granddaughter Alli (Halifax) remember her with love. Three generations of nieces and nephews remember her with great affection. A service of remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street. The Reverend Clark Saunders will officiate. A private family interment will take place in Brookside Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made in her memory to the In Memoriam Program supporting the Salvation Army Grace Hospice, through the Grace Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3J 3M7. A special thanks to Dr. Lueng-Shing at the Charleswood Clinic and to the caring physicians and staff of the Salvation Army Grace Hospice for their great kindness during this difficult time.
