CARRIE (MARGUERITE) TAYLOR (nee BOYD) 1917 - 2007 Peacefully, on Friday, December 7, 2007, Marguerite passed away at her residence at Misericordia Place, Winnipeg at the age of 90 years. Marguerite was the loving mother of Harold and Brenda; grandmother of Catherine, Dunrobin, Genevieve and Madelaine Taylor, Sita and Taran Piprani and step-grandchild Alessandra Bifano; daughter-in-law Alison Hammerquist; and son-in-law Baba Piprani. She also leaves sisters-in-law, Kay Taylor and Gaitanne Boyd; nieces and nephews, Doranne, Chris, Norm, Norma and Doug Bonson; Carol, Steve and Kathy Taylor; Marcia, Bonnie, Anthony Wade and many beloved second cousins. Mom was predeceased by her husband of 54 years of marriage, George Dixon Taylor formerly of Winnipeg, Vancouver and Pierrefonds, Quebec. She was predeceased by her siblings Ambert, Chris, Valerie, Betty and Robert. George and Marguerite moved with T.C.A. from Vancouver to Montreal in 1950. The children were raised in the suburbs of St. Laurent and Pierrefonds. Mom and Dad maintained close contact with family and friends in the West and made many lasting friendships in the Montreal area. Many memorable trips were taken to the United States, the Caribbean, Europe and the Holy Land. Mom was born to a homestead on the West side of the Fraser River south of Quesnel, BC, being eight years old when the family moved from their log home into the new house built by her parents, Ambert and Carrie Boyd. Her mother was the teacher in the one-room school house, but mom continued her education on her own and was always willing to give new training, business and travel ideas a whirl. Forty years ago, Marguerite became involved in art and took up first pottery, then porcelain making and later painting. She and Dad ran Carrie Ceramics from home and taught hundreds from the West Island area. After the children left home, much of the house became studios and a classroom. Mom, Grandma and Auntie will be sadly missed but forever in our hearts. A memorial service and reception will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2008, at 2:00 p.m., in Misericordia Place, 44 Furby Street, Winnipeg, MB. A special thanks to all the staff at Misericordia Place for her care in her last years.
